Set in the heart of bustling Camden Market, Poppies: Fish and Chips is a two story 50’s meets western theme restaurant that boasts the winner of “TheBestt Fish and Chips” award 4 years in a row. Our group stumbled in off the street, worn out from a day at the British Museum and ready to stuff our faces with as much food as we could find.

Prices:
When we saw the prices, it was made clear that no stuffing would happen. We went the traditional route, and my sister and I split a cod fish and chip plate. The plates are big, so split down the middle we both left with our hunger mostly satiated.
Accessibility:
Similar to Maggie Jones, it had a wheelchair-accessible ground floor BUT both bathrooms were down a flight of steep narrow stairs.
Food:
Honestly, if it wasn’t so expensive (in my opinion) I would have rated it way higher. While bland, the fish itself - we got the cod- was great quality and the chips tasted fantastic with a squeeze of lemon. Was it deserving of its “Best Fish and Chips” title? Maybe not. But tasty and filling without being heavy, it’s a good lunch for five ravenous tourists.

Fun Fact:
Apparently in 1967, inspired by the use of salt and vinegar as condiments for fish and chips in the UK, the Smiths Potato Crisps Company created Salt & Vinegar flavor crisps. The more you know!
