Day Ten: Portobello Market Distillery

The food at Portobello Market Distillery was delicious. A kimchi noodle plate with wonderfully crunchy tofu and a delicious creamy sauce. The price. however, was not. Starved and surviving off of a banana and a Ripple chocolate bar, the group I came with walked into this admittedly fancy rustic establishment with high hopes. And, after tasting it, it's obvious they put a lot of effort and care into their food. But, when my tiny plate came out, the portion no bigger than my fist, I was sorely disappointed.

Rating:
Food: 4/10 (with price taken into account, just on flavor it's a 7)
Price: $$$
Accessibility: 7/10
Service: 3/10
Food: Perfectly crispy tofu chunks and a delicious mix of cold noodles and sauce does not make up for the fact that this plate cost 9 pounds and I ate it in two bites. I will NEVER go back here again. It is way way too expensive for what was, on average, all right food. Some of the dishes were better than others, but in no world should you be paying 14 pounds for three pancakes and some bacon. If you can’t tell, I'm annoyed. There are so many other, cheaper, and more delicious places to eat on portobello road. Don’t waste your time.
Now that my rant is out of my system, I feel like I need to be fair. This is a distillery, It distills things, mainly alcoholic beverages. As someone who personally doesn’t drink alcohol, I can’t speak for its quality, but they seem to put a lot of effort into it so it may be worth a try.

Accessibility:
I think it was relatively accessible, everything was on the ground floor, but there might have been a step leading up or down to the restaurants. This, however, could be a lie so don't take my word for it.
Service:
I’m just all around not happy with this place. They refused to do anything about splitting the bill, told us it was our problem and we should handle it, despite the fact that we made it clear at the beginning of our meal that we would need different tabs. Which is an even bigger problem because it meant that at the end of the day I paid more than I needed to. See, here's the thing, they have a meal “deal” where you could get three small plates for 30 pounds. This is something we actively avoided as the three small plates we ordered were about 8 pounds 75 pence each. At the end when we got our check they combined all three of our plates and because we were in a large group and they didn’t split the check, we couldn’t stay to flag down the worker. I paid extra money for a meal that I left hungry from. Not the ideal situation.
