Day Four: Wagamama: Japanese Restaurant and Noodle Bar

Wagamama is a string of higher end Japanese restaurants around the London area. Damp from the rain and freezing, our little group was lured indoors by the promise of ramen. And we definitely came to the right place. The restaurant was warm and comfortable, with a modern laid-back atmosphere and long wooden benches that added a feel of communal dining to the space.

Food:
While I went looking for ramen, I actually ended up splitting the Chicken Katsu, which was delicious. If you're not a big fan of curry you might not enjoy this dish -the green curry sauce on top brought a lot of the flavor- but in my opinion, the whole thing was satisfying and tasty. The chicken was crispy, the rice was chewy and satisfying to eat, and the chili oil I dipped everything in was to die for. Maybe I'm just in spicy food withdrawal now that I’m in the UK but I wish I could buy the bottle of the stuff. An aside from our original quest: My friend tried the pork belly ramen and said when interviewed that it, “was really good,” and “Yeah, would recommend,” so take that as you will. Pricing all around was relatively expensive, but It was a satisfying meal.

Accessibility:
They actually had an elevator which was super cool. Because of the way seating is arranged, If you can’t transfer from a wheelchair, you will, however, have to sit at the end of a long table.
Service:
The waiters were nice, but we were there for a few hours. Like many places in the UK, you’re going to need to keep waving people down if you want to get something done.
Extra Tips:
If you have the money to spare, I’d recommend getting a side. When we stopped by, we all split a bowl of perfectly cooked edamame, and the table
next to ours ordered fish and other fried seafood sides that smelled absolutely delicious.
